This was a final project for illustration course. We were given free will to do whatever we pleased.
My artistic work is inspired by motifs originating from Croatia. For the initial motif, I chose endangered and protected butterflies from the website leptiri.hr and used them as a basis for character design. Additionally, I drew upon the literature "Hrvatska narodna nošnja" (Croatian Folk Costume) written by Ivan Ivanković and Vladimir Šimunić in 2000 as a source for the characters' costumes. My aim was to create an artistic piece that would be original and inspirational, while simultaneously promoting Croatia's natural and cultural heritage. Through creativity and an innovative approach, I was able to create a work that raises awareness for the preservation of endangered butterflies and Croatian traditions.
